03. Kalumburu Airport Terminal

Kalumburu is one of the most remote communities in Australia. The nearest town is Kununurra via a rough gravel road, which is a 12 hour drive away if you’re lucky! In addition, Kalumburu is cut-off from 4 to 6 months of the year when the monsoon season hits and the road becomes impassable. Regardless of the time of year, the airport is an essential means of getting goods and people in and out of Kalumburu.

The Kalumburu Airport Terminal provides basic but much needed facilities for travellers, including a passenger shelter, universal access composting toilet and pilot rest room on a very low budget. For many visitors it is the first impression of Kalumburu and it is designed to be a modern, dynamic facility that the community can be proud of.
